Please avoid. Their charges are immoral, took advantage of a situation and was forced to pay trumped up charges for them doing very little. Please avoid.

very poor service, was attempting to do an equity release, started in june 2022, but despite numerous emails that they never responded to I lost my offer from the lender after nearly 3 months and the new one would have cost me many thousands of pounds more, they never answer the phone and despite a formal complaint to the director, Kelly steel there was no reply. Avoid

I didn't have the misfortune of dealing with Gilroy Steel directly, but they acted for the buyers of our flat in our recent sale. I can honestly say that they were one of the worst companies in terms of quality of work and customer service. When it is possible to get in touch with them (not often), there were a multitude of errors made. David single-handedly caused exchange to be delayed on a number of occasions and, when it came to completing, took far too long to transfer the money to our solicitors, including getting the amount wrong. Use a proper solicitors, or get ready for a world of pain and stress.

Awful service. Whenever I call, they tell me someone will call me back. Noone ever does. They got the name wrong on my paperwork three times! I am so close to completing the property transfer, it is so frustrating as we are dependent on them. I work in a hospital, if I offered the same service I would probably lose my job!

Absolutely useless, maximum prices, zero performance. The mortgage advisors, the estate agents and myself have phoned and emailed with zero information or even a reply. Leigh-Anne Thorpe and her assistant Brook have no idea the stress and damage they are causing. I will be relieved when it all falls through at least the stress will be over and I can get back to having a life. 11 weeks in and still being ignored!!!!! Responded with my file reference and.......NOTHING

Having just completed our sale, I found Gilroy Steel to be very helpful and communicated with us every step of the way. In particular we dealt with Donna Walker who was at all times polite and kept us updated through the process. Highly recommended.

After being recommended by our financial advisor we checked these solicitors reviews and were concerned at the seemingly low rating however we couldn't be more wrong. From the home visit to completion we cannot fault this company with their service. Dealt with queries promptly very polite staff. we take this opportunity to thank Harriett and her staff for dealing with our affairs in a such a professional manner and we would not hesitate to recommend this company to others

Gilroy Steel (Northampton) provided a first-class service on my recent property purchase. They exceeded my expectations by providing an efficient service where precision, good judgement and excellent organisation were all paramount. They also gave me advice and support on issues relating to the market, protections and even insurance, which took their client-care to the next level. Samantha Thomson has been such a warm, calm and attentive solicitor amidst what is a very busy time for conveyancing solicitors (given stamp duty holidays etc). I am delighted they are continuing to help me in my endeavours and are by far the best solicitors I have come across.

These solicitors caused me hell for over 7 months with their appalling communication, obstructive behaviour and general negligence. When I complained they claimed I had a grievance with the buyer. This is a complete lie, we are friends and the only reason the sale did not fall through was due to our relationship. If we’d left it to Gilroy Steele we’d both be without a home. They are the worst. Truly. Avoid at all costs. Not taking responsibility for thier huge mistakes is another indicator of thier untrustworthiness.

These solicitors sent a cheque to my parents and didn't even sign it. Of course it then couldn't be cashed. When I rang them up about it, they insisted it had to be returned to them so it could be signed, otherwise they said they'd have to cancel it through the bank before issuing another. This was in spite of the fact I offered to send a photo, proving that the cheque wasn't signed. If they are unable to get something this simple right, then I certainly wouldn't trust them with any complex legal matter! EDIT: I see in their response they are alleging that this review "can not (sic) be matched to one of our clients". Incidentally, this is also the response given to another poor review. This is *definitely* the correct firm (and office). As I have stated already, I have contacted the office already. They are either ridiculously incompetent or totally dishonest; either way, keep clear! EDIT 2: Well over a week after returning the cheque to them, they STILL haven't returned it. Please, please avoid this company, they strike me as totally and utterly disreputable.
